Sr. Java Programmers

United Group Underwriters needs Sr. Java Programmers in Miami Gardens, FL area. Application development, maintenance & enhancement of solutions for enterprise apps. Review requirements, analyze feasibility & write tech specs. Work w/ Java, J2EE, JMS, XML.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • 3 years related work experience, handling personal injury or medical claims.
  • 620 or 520 license required
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred
DUTIES:
  • Requests and reviews all necessary documents to investigate claims
  • Investigates and makes coverage and qualification determinations for PIP claimants.
  • Communicates with hospitals and/or medical providers to properly evaluate claims.
  • Prepares PIP related documents and pays submitted bills according to established procedures.
  • Communicates with the SIU Department, Department of Insurance- Fraud Division, local law enforcement agencies.
  • Takes recorded statements and examination under oath when necessary.
  • Develops and maintains files and documents
  • Answers questions from insured's, claimants, attorneys and others, and resolves problems within established levels of authority.

BI/UM Adjuster handles first reports of bodily injury claims. Investigates coverage, liability and damages and evaluates claimed injuries. Obtains police reports, copies of insurance policies and medical/hospital reports and takes recorded statements.

EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma plus at least 2-3 years related work experience, preferably with BI claims.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 620 or 520 license required.

Evaluates, negotiates and resolves BI litigation claims. Reviews bodily injury suits and works closely with attorneys on claim settlements. Effects settlements within prescribed limits and submits recommendations to supervisor on cases exceeding personal settlement authority.

  • High school diploma plus a minimum of 5 years of related work experience, preferably with BI litigation claims.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 620 or 520 license required.

Handles, negotiates and resolves first and third party liability and property damage claims to conclusion, including coverage verification, policy interpretation, liability investigation and evaluation of personal auto claims.

EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma plus minimum one year experience as a Customer Service Rep, preferably in the insurance industry.
  • 220 license helpful.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Windows-based applications and internet usage.
  • Must be familiar with forms, procedures, regulations, coverage's and business processes for assigned programs.
  • Must be able to exercise good judgment and state opinions assertively.
  • Must be able to write and speak clearly and concisely and explain the same ideas to people at many different levels, delivering messages in a positive manner.

Candidate Interviews insured's in order to obtain necessary information to assist claims adjusters in the investigation of a claim, while looking for questionable circumstances and inconsistencies. Forwards completed information to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).

EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma, plus at least one (1) year prior EUO experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Knowledge of computer applications; familiarity with AS-400 applications a plus.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills, be detail-oriented and have the ability to prioritize and manage a large workload.
  • Must be able to write and speak clearly and concisely.
  • Must be able to follow through on assignments with minimal supervision and work independently as well as part of a team.

Candidate will assist in the administration and provision of legal support services to attorneys in the form of legal research, drafting of legal and business communications, and file preparation for trial.

EDUCATION:
  • Certification in paralegal studies with at least 3 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Undergraduate studies in business administration, insurance, or other related area preferred.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Proven knowledge in the operations, practices and procedures of civil litigation.
  • Proven knowledge in filing procedures of relevant courts and administrative agencies.
  • Must have a demonstrated knowledge in legal research and disposition motion practices as well as appellate procedures.
  • Must have strong analytical, research, interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • High school diploma, plus at least 1 year experience in a law office, or related education in the legal field.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Accurate typing skills at least 55 + words per minute.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Windows-based applications and internet usage.
  • Must have strong knowledge of legal documents.
  • Must possess very strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills, be highly detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage workload.
